NEW YORK – Fry Bread’s Valerie Vande Panne hosted Art Talk with New York City based artist Konstance Patton Ke-nee-go-keshek (Little River Band of Ottawa Indians). Konstance comes from a family of artists, teachers, and healers. In the interview, she shares her artistic journey, ranging from watercolor paintings to graffiti and beadwork. She now serves as the art director for the iconic Knitting Factory, an historic NYC club known for its music scene.
Konstance discusses her path to becoming a working artist in New York, and how she supports artists across disciplines. Staying in inspiring environments and continuous learning are part of her special sauce, along with working jobs that paid the bills while leaving her with the time and energy to create.
Konstance is the embodiment of living with artistic determination and community support, proving it’s possible to thrive as an artist – and that art is life.
