Artists challenge America’s anniversary in new exhibition at the Iroquois Museum

The Iroquois Museum in New York is hosting a 2026 Special Exhibition event on May 17. The feature exhibition, “Talkin’ Bout a Revolution: A Haudenosaunee Response to the 250th,” featuring artists from Oneida, WI, to Akwesasne.
The event will showcase their artwork and host a questionnaire about the art and the American anniversary. Artists Peter Hemison, Sayokla Kindness, Carla Hemlock, Shelley Niro, Trevor Brant and other artists will discuss the disregard for Indigenous nations during the 250th anniversary of America’s founding.
The exhibit will feature sculpture, bead work, painting, digital works and more. The event will be streamed live but in person attendees pay through the museum’s admission.
The event will be at the Iroquois Museum on May 17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
