Largest global Indigenous gathering opens at UN for 25th session

The largest global gathering of Indigenous Peoples opened this week, hosted by the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. This will be its 25th session being held between April 20 to May 1.
The UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues is also hosting a high-level dialogue about climate change.
The theme of this year’s gathering is focusing on the health of Indigenous People. There will be a craft fair showcase with Indigenous Artisans organized by the American Indian Law Alliance at the UN Church Centre from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 22, 2026.
The fair is cash only. It will have a large selection of jewelry, textiles, handbags and other handmade crafts done by Indigenous artists around the world.
