Oglala Lakota Artspace launches Artist-in-Residence Program

The Oglala Lakota Artspace has announced its Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Program, an initiative aimed at supporting Oceti Sakowin artists working across historical, traditional, and contemporary Lakota art forms.
The residency, housed at the artspace on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Kyle, South Dakota, is designed to provide artists with the time, space and resources needed to develop their creative practice while fostering collaboration with local artists and the broader community. Depending on the availability of the artist selected for the residency, the duration of the residency ranges from two to six weeks during May-October of next year. Living accommodations, a food stipend, dedicated workspace, materials support, and transportation to and from the residency site are provided.
The artist must be comfortable working in a semi-open studio where the public can interact with the artist during public hours and work in an engaging environment.
The AiR Program is open to visual artists, writers, composers, choreographers, performance and interdisciplinary artists, as well as collaborative teams. Both established and emerging artists from Oceti Sakowin Bands are encouraged to apply.
The application window is open now and closes January 8. For more information, including a link to the application, click here.
