OLA Artist-in-Residence Program accepting applications for 2025

The First Peoples Fund’s Oglala Lakota Artspace (OLA) Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Program has opened applications for their two to six week residencies.

The program will take place during the months of June through November in Kyle, South Dakota. 

The program is designed to “support culture bearers and artist working in the continuum of Lakota art, historically, traditionally, and contemporarily, to develop their practice and build collaborations with local artists and the community.” 

The residency is open to: visual artists, writers, composers, choreographers, interdisciplinary artists, performance artists and collaborative teams.

Residencies also include living accommodations, a food stipend, workspace, a material stipend, transportation to and from the space and uninterrupted time to concentrate on creative practices. 

Applications are open until April 4, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MT. and can be accessed here

Application materials MUST include: 

  • Proof of tribal affiliation
  • Project Proposal 
  • Chosen dates of residency (first and second choices)
  • Max 10 work examples
  • Two letters of reference
  • A resume and bio
