Chicago Center for Arts and Technology Holding Open Call for Community Exhibition

The Chicago Center for Arts and Technology is holding an open call for Indigenous artists for “We Were, We Are,” a community exhibition.
The exhibition will recognize and honor Indigenous Peoples of the past and present day.
“‘We Were’ speaks to the present-day relevance of history, culture, and knowledge. ‘We Are’ affirms contemporary Indigenous identity as alive, vibrant, and self-determined,” the website said. “Together, we hope these joint themes provide artists with space for full and authentic expression.”
Indigenous artists from all Nations, communities, locations, and career stages are invited to apply, and artists with ties to the Chicago area are especially encouraged.
CHICAT welcomes submissions of all categories of visual arts media, including painting and drawing, sculpture and installation, photography, textiles and material practices, film or video, digital and new media, and performance.
Interested artists can apply at the link here by Wednesday, Oct. 21. The exhibition will be held at Gallery 1701 inside CHICAT from Nov. 9-Dec. 4, 2026.
