Honoring Indigenous Art exhibition seeks submissions from Native artists

Eastend Arts Center, in partnership with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP), has announced a call for submissions for the upcoming Honoring Indigenous Art exhibition, inviting Native artists to showcase contemporary works that reflect identity, heritage, culture, and lived experience.
The exhibition aims to celebrate the diversity and vitality of Indigenous artistic expression across all mediums. Organizers encourage artists to submit works inspired by personal stories, cultural knowledge, community connections, and the evolving creativity of Potawatomi and other Native communities. Artwork may be rooted in tradition, reflect contemporary Indigenous experiences, or envision future perspectives.
Selected works will be displayed in Eastend Arts Center’s first-floor Larson Exhibition Room. The exhibition will also feature a public Artist Meet & Greet, cultural performances, and catering curated by NHBP in the Wagner Ballroom, creating opportunities for community engagement and cultural celebration.
A review committee composed of representatives from Eastend Arts Center and the NHBP Culture Department will select the featured artworks. Award winners will receive cash prizes of $400 for first place, $250 for second place, and $100 for third place.
Artists may submit up to three pieces through Eastend’s online portal. Required submission materials include the artist’s name, tribal ID or tribal affiliation, artwork title, medium and dimensions, high-resolution images, an artist statement, a brief biography, and preferred delivery method.
Wall-mounted artwork must be ready to hang, while sculptures must be freestanding. Selected artists will be notified in late September or early October 2026 and must deliver accepted works to Eastend Arts Center by Nov. 4, 2026.
Eastend Arts Center will retain a 30% commission on all artwork sold during the exhibition, with artists receiving 70% of the sale price within 30 days after the exhibition closes.
