Indigenous Australian Art Transforms Indianapolis Museum

INDIANAPOLIS – A groundbreaking immersive exhibition celebrating one of the world’s oldest continuous artistic traditions has opened at THE LUME Indianapolis transporting visitors across the globe through a mesmerizing blend of visual art and music.

“Connection: Land, Water, Sky – Art & Music from Indigenous Australians” features the work of 100 contemporary Indigenous Australian artists, showcasing over 500 paintings, stories, and photographs that come alive through cutting-edge digital projection technology.

The exhibition invites visitors to experience “Country” – the Indigenous Australian worldview that all living things exist in a state of interconnection. Through three thematic segments exploring land, water, and sky, attendees journey across the Australian continent, witnessing diverse artistic expressions from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creators.

The soundtrack features both legendary Indigenous Australian musicians and contemporary artists, forming an essential element of the exhibition’s immersive nature.

THE LUME Indianapolis, known for its innovative digital art experiences, is part of the Newfields, a hub of nature and the arts in Indianapolis. It has transformed its massive gallery space into a dynamic canvas where these cultural treasures can be experienced at a scale impossible through traditional display methods.
