Radical Stitch exhibition of Native bead art opens April 12 at Eiteljorg

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis is set to showcase one of North America’s largest exhibitions of contemporary Native bead art. Radical Stitch, opening April 12 and running through August 3, features nearly 100 works that explore Native artistic traditions and address pressing contemporary issues.

Curated by the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina, Saskatchewan, this exhibition offers an unprecedented look at bead art.

Visitors will experience stunning examples of beadwork that blend traditional techniques with contemporary themes, from pop culture references to explorations of the future. The exhibition highlights the work of artists who have drawn inspiration from their distinct backgrounds and geographies.

To complement the exhibition, the Eiteljorg will host several public programs, including meet-and-greets with artists, a gallery talk, and a panel discussion on the transformative power of beadwork. These events provide an immersive experience into the artistic and cultural significance of Native bead art.
