Indigenous Youth Roots Launches Youth Empowerment Grants Up to $5,000

Indigenous Youth Roots is opening its Youth Empowerment Stream to provide small grants to youth-led projects. The grant will provide between $2,500 and $5,000 for initiatives in different Canadian communities. 

The projects must be led by two or more Indigenous youth between the ages of 15-29 and focus on resilience, engagement and wellness of youth. The grantees will receive mentorship, training and capacity-building opportunities along with the grant. 

Eligible groups and projects include: 

  • Unincorporated/grassroots youth groups/collectives/councils comprised primarily of Indigenous youth 
  • Emerging, incorporated youth groups (note: IYR defines “emerging” as groups that have an operating budget of less than $50,000) 
  • Projects must serve primarily serve Indigenous youth

The grant is open between April 1 to April 30, 2026 and those interested can apply online. For more information, the requirements are listed online.
