‘Significant 2026’ showcases First Nations art across three cities

D Lan Galleries will present its annual flagship exhibition, Significant 2026, simultaneously in Melbourne, Sydney and New York, continuing its decade-long focus on premier secondary market Australian First Nations art.

The exhibitions run from May 14 until June 27.

The exhibition features a major selection of early Papunya paintings from the influential 1971–72 period, including works by Kaapa Mbitjana Tjampitjinpa, Johnny Warangula Tjupurrula and Uta Uta Tjangala. Collectors and audiences will also have the opportunity to view museum-quality paintings and sculptures by some of Australia’s most celebrated Indigenous artists.

A centerpiece of the exhibition is Djorra 2014-15, a large-scale installation of 45 drawings and paintings by Nyapanyapa Yunupiŋu. The work was previously featured in the artist’s 2020 survey exhibition at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.

Historic works by Rover Thomas, Queenie McKenzie, Albert Namatjira, Emily Kam Kngwarray and Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi will also be on display alongside pieces by Sally Gabori, Noŋgirrŋa Marawili, Timo Hogan, Kunmanara Patju Presley and Keith Wikmunea.

Now in its second decade, Significant remains one of D Lan Galleries’ most anticipated exhibitions, offering rare access to important works in Australian First Nations art.
