Balboa Park Powwow to celebrate Native American heritage in San Diego

The Balboa Park Powwow will return to San Diego on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2026, inviting the public to gather in celebration of Native American culture, tradition and community.

The two-day event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at Balboa Park, located at Park Boulevard and Presidents Way in San Diego. The event is open to the public and aims to provide an educational and welcoming environment for attendees of all ages.

Organizers describe the annual powwow as both a celebration of Native American heritage and an inclusive community gathering designed to welcome people of all backgrounds.

“At its core, this annual gathering is an invitation to everyone,” organizers said. “While it’s a celebration of Native culture, it’s also a space for all people to come together, share in the joy of community, and learn about a vibrant heritage.”

The Balboa Park Powwow is expected to feature traditional dancing, drumming, music, cultural demonstrations and opportunities for visitors to learn more about Indigenous traditions and Native communities.

Powwows have long served as important cultural gatherings for Native nations across North America, bringing together families, artists, singers and dancers to honor traditions, strengthen community connections and share cultural knowledge with future generations.
